Setting Priorities
How Do I Prioritize Academic Goals Against Non-Academic Goals?
Throughout your life you have different goals. Your goals relate to different areas, such as family goals and career-related goals. Most of the time, you probably have too many goals and not enough time to reach all of them. It is even possible that they conflict with each other.
- Formulate your learning goal. Follow the instructions giving under the section “Learning Goals."
- Set your private goals. Follow the same instructions for setting learning goals and apply them for your private goals.
- List all of your goals in a table. When you have finished defining your learning and private goals, place them in a table to get an overview.
- Anticipate reaching single goals. Sit down and take time to anticipate how you would feel when achieving your listed goals. This will help you determine the value of your single noted goals.
- Rank single goals. According to the anticipated feelings and the resulting importance of the single goals, rank the goals. The ranking of goals will help you write your weekly schedule. Plan more time for the goals that rank highly. Hopefully, your learning goal is at the top, and you will assign certain times daily for working your way to achieving your learning goal.
